YDA Protest to Safeguard Female Doctors

KARACHI- Young Doctors Association (YDA), Sindh, strongly condemned the incident of verbal  and physical abuse against female on-duty doctors at Medical Unit-5, Dr. Ruth K.M Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK).


They disclosed that the attendants broke into the female doctors’ room, physically abused and harassed, threatening to harm a pregnant doctor’s unborn child.


The sufferers exclaimed that, CHK’s administration remained silent over this crucial matter, Deputy Medical Superintendent and head of Medical Unit-5, visited the ward after the incident took place and allowed the culprits leave, without any litigation.


A delegation of YDA, Sindh, held a meeting with Medical Superintendent, CHK, and demanded to take action against the assaulters and provision of security for doctors on call. The representatives of YDA also demanded to lodge an FIR on the behalf of CHK administration.


Medical Superintendent, CHK, Dr. Muhammad Taufiq, stated that the unfortunate incident of a patient’s death lead to this verbal and physical clash between doctors and attendants. He said that an inquiry committee will be constituted to probe the incident and action will surely be taken against the attendants.
