Punjab spending billions on health and education

LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Excise & Taxation and Finance Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman says that government is providing billions of rupees to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), as regards health and education with the government ‘s major focus on protecting the health of people trough strengthening of Primary Health Care & Disease Preventive Programs.

The minister said that billions have been allocated for provision of education, health and other basic facilities in the current financial year’s budget, and that special attention has been providing best possible treatment facilities to the people especially of far-flung and remote areas of South Punjab while one billion rupees has been provided for mobile health units. He said more resources are being provided for the uplift of socio-economic status of the masses of the to downtrodden areas.

Minister Mujtaba telling them that government’s main focus lie on treatment of chronic and fatal diseases, and that government is encouraging the NGOs as well as educational institutions on organizing awareness events against fatal diseases.
