KARACHI- Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) recently expressed serious concerns over the problem of road blockages in Karachi, specifically at Shahrah-e-Faisal, due to a rally held by workers of a political party.

Secretary General, Pakistan Medical Association (PMA- Centre), Dr. S.M.Qaisar Sajjad, stated that, it is very unfortunate that Sindh’s Government has failed to provide basic relief to the citizens of Karachi. Due to the political rally, roads were blocked, thus paralyzing daily routine within the city.

Many people, alongside ambulances were stuck on the roads for over five hours. The use of roads for political rallies, processions and for any purpose, whatsoever, anywhere in Pakistan, causes immense misery and trouble for the people, particularly for the health care providers and the ailing people.

Dr. S M. Qaisar requested all the political parties of Pakistan, not to block the main and link roads of any city of Pakistan, under any circumstances, so that our public, patients, doctors, paramedical staff and ambulances can reach at their places of work conveniently, on time.

He also appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to immediately take notice of such situations, particularly during the month of elections, and act upon permanently banning the use of main roads for political rallies, processions or sit-ins, in order to provide relief and convenience to the people of Pakistan.
