Law enforcement agencies have stated that the bomb was placed here, because this health facility at Bazid Khel area, is conducting a vaccination drive against polio.

PESHAWAR: In another brutal Bomb-attack on the poor polio vaccinators, near Peshawar, more than two people including a policeman were left dead, while 13 others including vaccination workers were injured. The terror attack occurred near a health care centre in the area of Budh Bher, Suleman Khel, situated near Peshawar.

At the time of the remote controlled explosion with around five Kilograms of explosives, some essential goods, used in Drives against polio, were being distributed to the vaccination teams and the relevant staff. The blast victims and those suffering from injuries were immediately shifted to the Lady Reading Hospital, and the police has begun the process of investigation

Immediately after this explosion, one more remote controlled bomb containing eight kilograms of explosives was located near the same institution, but it was successfully diffused by the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS).

Ensuring the safety and protection of these vaccination teams is a must, because they are risking their lives while performing a noble task of saving the next generation from serious diseases.

The perpetrators of these terror attacks are clearly against Polio Vaccination. Over the years, some banned extremist organizations have been misleading the people by declaring that; polio-vaccination is an anti-Islamic programme. The extremists falsely allege that such vaccines cause impotency among the younger generation, which is not true and most of Pakistan’s religious authorities and scholars have repeatedly denied this allegation.

One day prior to this blast, the security agencies had revealed intelligence reports about a militant outfit - Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), planning major terror activities around Peshawar.
