Pakistan Launches Hepatitis Awareness Program

The initiative was taken by the Punjab Hepatitis Control Programme in collaboration with Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute and Research Centre.


An awareness program for prevention, control and registration of hepatitis patients in the Punjab district, Pakistan was recently initiated by the Punjab Hepatitis Control Programme in collaboration with Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute and Research Centre.


In this connection various teams visited various educational institutions to apprise students about the prevention, cure and cure about the various forms of deadly disease of hepatitis including A, B and C.


The programme highlighted that lack of education and awareness of bio-safety and bio-security issues at healthcare institutions, reuse of injections, transfusion of contaminated blood, unsafe haemodialysis procedure, dental procedure with infected instrument, endoscopies with un-sterilised instruments, piercing, tattooing and shaving with contaminated razors, etc, are some of the factors responsible for spread of hepatitis.
