NICVD’s Inaugurates 6th Cardiac Satellite Center

KARACHI- National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) in collaboration with the Government of Sindh, established its 6th state-of-the-art cardiac center in Shaheed Benazirabad at Peoples Medical College Hospital, Nawabshah, to provide cardiovascular services to the people of Sindh, free of cost.


 Executive Director NICVD, Prof Nadeem Qamar expressed his happiness towards the completion of this step. He added that, it is a matter of great pride that NICVD Nawabshah comprises of cardiac facilities of International standard and will be able to provide quality treatment, especially Interventional Cardiology, in collaboration with the Government of Sindh.


Furthermore, he added that NICVD has brought both comprehensive diagnostic and treatment modalities to the population of interior Sindh. With the same state-of-the-art cardiac facilities, NICVD has stepped into this region of Sindh province and has initiated Cardiac Emergency, Primary PCI (Angioplasty during heart attack), Adult and Pediatric Cardiology, consulting clinics, echocardiography and critical care for the population of this district and its peripheries.


Prof  Nadeem mentioned that, NICVD Centers at Larkana, Tando Muhammad Khan, Hyderabad, Sehwan and Sukkur has been doing wonders and saving lives. 1,130 heart attack patients at NICVD Larkana, 831 at NICVD Tando Muhammad Khan, 534 at NICVD Hyderabad, 183 at NICVD Sehwan and 284 at NICVD Sukkur were treated successfully since the inception of these centers in April 2017, October 2017, November 2017, December 2017 and February 2018, respectively; till March 2018.


He thanked the Government of Sindh for their endless support and praised the efforts of NICVD’s dedicated team.


It was also revealed that NICVD will be opening two more Cardiac centers in Khairpur and Mithi, which will be operational during 2018, so that cardiac services can be prompt and accessible to the patients. NICVD is committed to provide excellent cardiac treatment to the people of  Sindh at their doorstep, free of cost.


 Secretary Health Sindh, Dr. Fazlullah Pechuho congratulated NICVD on their new setup. He said that the cardiac setup would play an important role in improving the health of both adult and pediatric heart patients, which will significantly reduce the waiting list of patients for treatment interventions He supported NICVD’s future plans and further advancements of health care facilities.
