Minister to monitor Hospital cleanliness and service quality

KARACHI- Provincial Minister for Health Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has given ten-day times to public sector hospitals authorities concerned, to improve the cleanliness, ensure availability of medicines and ensure regular attendance of medical staff in healthcares in stipulated time.

Jam Mehtab while talking to the media persons, said medical superintendents and heads of public hospitals must ensure attendance of medical staff in healthcares, improve cleanliness standard and ensure availability of drugs in the stipulated timeframe. He said; he will visit the healthcares personally to check the overall situation after the end of the time period.

He informed that; he paid surprise visit to Manghopir Rural Health Center in the  recent past, where most medical staff, including peon, was found absent from their duties.  The minister took serious notice of the absence of medical staff and sought explanation from Town Health Officer Gadap - Dr Abbas Gopang and other absent medical staff.

He directed the Director Health Karachi Zafar Ejaz to improve the overall situation of hospitals within ten days. He said after the end of the specified period, he will personally visit the healthcare and no negligence will be tolerated in this regard.

He said it was observed that a significant number of doctors and other medical staff were found in their private clinics and hospitals during duty hours.
On the other hand, Director Health Karachi - Dr Zafar Ejaz formed monitoring teams on the directive of health minister Sindh and the teams had started their surprise visits of different hospitals.

The monitoring teams have successfully paid visits in Sindh Government Hospital  Ibrahim Haidery, Sindh Government Hospital New Karachi, Urban Health Center North Karachi and other healthcare centers.

During the visit of monitoring teams, It was observed that Medical Superintendent of Urban Health Center -Dr Khursheed Alam and other staff were found absent from their duties without prior information. Zafar Ejaz sought explanation from staff in this regard.
