Lyari Hospital to be upgraded: Dahar

Karachi: Provincial Minister for Health Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar said provincial government is trying to provide health care facilities to the people of Lyari so that they need not to go to Civil Hospital Karachi or Jinnah postgraduate Medical Centre.

This he said while talking to the people gathered there during his surprise visit to Sindh Government Lyari General Hospital Karachi. He said for the development of Lyari the people of Lyari must come forward.

He took serious notice that there were Echo machine; generator and lift were out of order. He directed to provide Echo machine within 24 hours while generator and lift to be repaired at earliest.  He said also took serious notice of non-availability of medicines and not forming of usual medical tests in the hospital.

He directed Medical Superintendent Lyari Hospital Dr Khalil Pathan to improve matters within a week otherwise he would take strict action against him, while directing Dr  Anjum Rehman Principal Lyari Medical College to ensure that Gynae ward should work round the clock and normal and Caesarean cases be formed.

Jam Mehtab also visited the ward specially established for the patients affected by heat stroke and asked the administration to enhance capacity there and to erect a big shade in the hospital premises.

Meanwhile, the provincial minister health further directed to provide hepatitis screening and vaccination in the hospital and ensure availability of medicines in the hospital.

He also took notice of a large number of quacks in Lyari and directed DHO concerned to take strict action against them.

Later, provincial minister health also visited Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Trauma Centre and inspected ongoing development work on 9th and 13th floor. On this occasion MS Trauma Centre Dr Saeed Querashi and MS Civil Hospital Karachi  D. Jameel Siddique were accompanied by health minister.
