KP governor wants anti-polio drive resumed in Bara

Peshawar: Expressing serious concern over the reported polio cases in Akkakhel and Milward areas of Bara in Khyber Agency, Governor Mahtab Ahmad Khan Tuesday directed the authorities concerned to take every possible step to resume the anti-polio campaign in the affected areas.

An official handout said that after taking notice of reports about four cases of polio in Akkakhel tribe in Bara, the governor directed the authorities concerned of the Fata Secretariat and political administration to take austerity measures for polio eradication and advised to take a lead role in anti-polio campaign so that all children of the precinct could be protected against the crippling disease.

The governor said polio eradication was top priority of the government and serious efforts had been initiated for getting positive results.He directed the affected areas should be focused in the next anti-polio campaigns.

“Our government is very much concerned about the reported polio cases in Khyber Agency and the authorities should realize their responsibility and no compromise would be tolerated in this regard,” he added.
