Karachi: The illegal motorcycle parking outside Civil Hospital’s Accident and Emergency Department has become a cause of serious concern for all patients, hospital employees and attendants. The hospital management has been advised to address this security issue numerous times but has failed to take any action so far.

According to a senior official who wished to remain anonymous, as many as 200 motorcycles are parked illegally outside the hospital on daily basis with the consent of the security guards that have been posted to ensure complete security for all visitors. Not only does this pose a security threat but also makes it difficult for the hospital ambulances to carry patients in need of emergency treatment to the department.

He further stated that the security staff, police and the administration of the Civil Hospital Karachi have failed to resolve this issue. Based on the rules and regulations initially set by the hospital management, motorcycle and vehicle parking was prohibited outside the hospital, but the security guards outside have indulged in earning extra income illegally by charging up to Rs.50 per motorcycle for parking.
