Experts discuss Milk Quality Law

LAHORE: A meeting of several stakeholders and experts on formal dairy sector development was recently held in Lahore to discuss the development of formal dairy sector and a minimum pasteurization law.

Vice-Chancellor of University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) - Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha and Secretary Livestock and Dairy Development Department of Punjab - Dr Amer Ahmed, co-chaired the meeting while officers from the livestock department, researchers from academic institution, representatives of private sector and dairy farmers attended the meeting.

The participants gave various suggestions for faster development of dairy sector and creation of a “Minimum Pasteurization Law”. On the occasion, Nutrition expert - Dr Muhammad Nasir also gave a presentation on Minimum Pasteurization Law. All the participants appreciated the new initiatives in minimum pasteurization law for the dairy sector.

Addressing the participants, the Secretary Livestock stated that; We will strive hard to uplift dairy sector and make this possible into well organize sector. On the occasion, Vice-Chancellor - Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha said that each one of us can play an important role in uplifting the Dairy sector. The milk testing service at UVAS is working very well to achieve a higher quality of milk. In order to enhance the milk production and its quality, there is a need to organize a regular milk competition in various districts.
