The court of Justice Mohammad Shafi Siddiqui has ordered that; In order to safeguard the interests of Pakistan Medical Association (PMA), Dr. Samreena Hashmi should not be reinstated as a member of PMA.

The court was hearing a case regarding the cancellation of Dr. Samreena's membership by the PMA General Body. Her dismissal was based on serious allegations of corruption and financial embezzelments. Responding to these accusations, Dr. Samreena had filed a court appeal to be reinstated as a member of PMA.

Justice Mohammad Shafi observed the allegations levelled against Dr. Samreena, who had allegedly opened a fake bank account in the name of Pakistan Medical Association and made several unauthorized withdrawals of “big amounts” from the fake account.

The court also stated in the decision that; there are allegations of mega corruption levelled against Dr. Samreena Hashmi. The interests and reputation of the association must be safeguarded and stand higher than the personal interests of an individual. The right of an individual is subservient to the mandate and command of an institution or association.

Dr. Samreena was not able to nullify the accusations against herself, therefore, the court dismissed her appeal to be reinstated. The PMA authorities have also reiterated their commitment, not to tolerate any kind of corruption in the affairs of this noble association, which has a primary responsibility to protect the rights and interests of the doctors and patients at all times.
